Now runs have this thing where at the end of a level it adds a random challenge to your run. You have no control over witch modifier you get and some are way worse than others. sometimes runs feel very easy because you get lucky and others just feel like ♥♥♥♥ because you got bad luck.  

There are three modes to play. Adventure allows players to find relics and earn reputation points. Classic mode is a rogue-like one where temples become increasingly difficult as you get farther in.

The secrets are highly satisfying to find, and when a guardian is dropping poison bombs or just relentlessly advancing that can feel like it's working against the necessary concentration or experimentation needed to reach them. A lot of the time Phantom Abyss it can feel easier to just dash on through, ignoring the intricate room design to reach the door to the next one, and the next and the next until finally reaching the exit. Every once in a while, though, Phantom Abyss manages to balance the speed and exploration, and that's when it's at its best.

If you can see them, they died which means they probably arent hacking Hackers, in my experience, suck at the game even with cheats. I've got my answer though, I was just curiouus about the speed.

This randomised floating mongrel teleports from room to room, shooting lasers or dropping bombs that slow the player down. The problem with this harassment enemy is that because you’re the only ‘real’ player in your run, it only seems to want to shoot at you rather than the many ghost players pinwheeling about you.

work as a video game in its own right? Yes, for a specific kind of player, I think it will. And by specific kind of player, I mean players with an audience. Twitch streamers in search of a game they can wildly overreact to will find fertile ground here.

The latter still requires that you own the Steam version, so I guess there’s no reason to specify that. The game is looking all kinds of fantastic, so it seems like the right time to start getting hyped for when it’s available and I find myself dying horribly for hours on end.

I’m confident that additional polish and content are coming down the pipeline, but I need more from the current state of the game.

Watch and learn from the mistakes of up to 20 phantoms including your Steam friends that have attempted the same temple and steal their whips as they fall.
